An easy early evening ride to the Delhi Airport and a five hour wait until my flight departed. At least I was good and tired when I boarded so sleep came quickly on the 8-hour flight to Zurich.

My six-hour layover in Zurich was made less tedious in the very comfortable Swiss Air lounge. Thank goodness! A six-hour layover anywhere is generally a bad idea.

Another 8-hour flight dropped me off in Washington. Then it was a two hour zoom in a rental to Charlottesville, and HOME!
So…how was India?
Awesome. Fragrant. Dirt. Mildew. Flowers. Garbage. Wonderful people. Loud. Peaceful. Chaotic. Fun. Interesting. Bland and repetitive food. Spectacular food. Hot. Cool. Humid. Comfortable. Dusty. Wet (but not for us). Are you picking up on the contradictions? That’s India – an amazing country filled with surprises.
The Indian people were uniformly gracious, friendly, interested in us, and always very welcoming. I think we only encountered a couple of grumpies during our stay, and both of them were waiters in the same restaurant! OBTW, it was rare to see female staff in any restaurant.
Our tour company, G Adventures, did an absolutely bang up job designing this wonderful experience. And our Chief Experience Officer, Ruby, was spectacular! We could not have received better support, guidance, information, and patience. She’s the best!
If you’re thinking about your next travel destination, add exotic India to your list. It was worth every minute. Until the next adventure—Captain, over and out.
A short & witty ending…
The world is big, but people everywhere laugh in the same language.

Tell me about your car rental strategy when you have a chance! I also want to do an Indian Mutiny Tour. Would you recommend your tour company ?
